I only knew the schoolbooks said he "died in the wilderness, of a broken heart."" More than him has done that, " said Antonia sadly, and the girls murmured assent.

About This Quote

The Bible tells us that Jesus teaches that it is better to give than to receive (Luke 6:38). Sometimes, giving more than you receive can be the right thing to do. That way, you can help someone who needs help even though you yourself don’t receive anything in return. For example, if you are in a family where one of the parents is not paying attention to his or her children, and the children are starving, you could try giving your food to your children’s parent.

But, if you give him food and he doesn’t give you children, then that is not what Jesus would call giving more than you receive. When someone dies who has done nothing for anyone, it is hard for people to feel sad. The Bible says that people should mourn over the death of someone who dies in the wilderness because he was not given an opportunity to live his life righteously (Hebrews 11:37).

However, when someone dies who has given more than he received, people will feel sadness because he did so much good in this world yet did not receive what he deserved.
